Family Fun in Austin
Austin, Tx is the ultimate vacation destination for family fun in the south. Whether it’s eating at any number of incredible restaurants, spending a day on the lake to soak up some sun, or exploring the plethora of activities and games that can be found in downtown Austin, it’s hard to find a city that shines brighter than ATX. We prepared this guide for families looking to enjoy a piece of their summer in one of our country’s most sought after destinations.
Float On Boat Rentals
To get you started, nothing can top the great time you’ll have on the lake at Float On – Lake Austin Boat Rentals & Lake Travis Boat Rentals. Whether you want to just hangout and float on one of our Lily Pads or do some wakeboarding/water sports, Float On is here to make sure your time on the lake is memorable and fun! The options are limitless, and if you’re looking for fun ways to spend your time on the lake just check out our blog or ask your captain for suggestions.
Austin Zoo and Animal Sanctuary
Stationed at the southwest edge of the city, the Austin Zoo hosts rescued animals only, which includes those that can no longer be returned to the wild or domesticated along with stock animals, such as goats. There are tons of family safe ways for kids to hang with the animals; the zoo is a private nonprofit that sells proper food for the kids to feed them.
We know that Float On won’t be the only thing allowing your family to experience the great outdoors in Austin. Perched on Lady Bird Lake, with views of the city skyline, Zilker Park is packed full of fun stuff to do. Kayak around Lady Bird Lake, admire the waterfalls in the Botanical Garden, or take a 20-minute family train ride around the park on a miniature train.
LA Barbecue: Cuisine Texicana
This no frills barbecue joint makes their sausage by hand and same goes for their generous helpings of grilled slabs of meat. John Lewis is the man behind the pit; the veteran can churn out whole briskets and racks of ribs in a jiffy. To put the cherry on top, the spot seconds as a live music venue every Saturday and Sunday.
Staying open until 2:30 am has given Hoboken a diverse clientele. Their incredible pies are sought after by late-night scavengers and your average diners alike. Regardless of their stripped down dining area, the Jersey-influenced pies are loved by nightcrawlers as well as families looking for a solid pizza experience in ATX. Thanks to a delicious crust and amazing cheese and sauce flavors, this pie spot should not be overlooked by visitors of the city.
Veracruz All Natural
As all the locals know, Veracruz can do no wrong. Their homemade tortillas and aguas frescas along with the migas, fish and vegetable tacos are nationally ranked and deservedly so. The trucks on East Cesar Chavez and Manchaca Road are constantly packed, and there’s finally an Austin brick and mortar (plus another one up in Round Rock).
