Dell Match Play 2022 Is On!
The PGA Tour World Golf Championship Dell Match Play event will return for the 7th year to the sunny banks of Lake Austin March 23-27, 2022.
With the iconic Pennybacker Bridge as its backdrop, Austin Country Club provides a world-class venue and host of the Dell Match Play event.
Can’t get a ticket to Match Play? Float On has you covered! Our new Bentley pontoon boats don’t have a trunk big enough to fit your Callaway golf clubs, but we do have a huge yeti cooler to hold all your brews and some cross stitched vinyl seats to make you feel like you’re really floatin’ in luxury.
The best part of watching Dell Match Play from the middle of Lake Austin is no need to buy tickets! Ticket free is the way to be. The entire section of the lake bordering the course transforms into a giant golf-watching party-zone during the event, lending a perfect opportunity to anchor up and see your favorite pro. Make sure you’re camera ready for when the media shoots the lake action, which there definitely will be lake action! If you don’t own a boat make sure you check out Float On – Lake Austin Boat Rentals and reserve one of our pontoon boats soon as we’ll surely be filling up fast.
With a purse exceeding $10 million dollars, the tournament will host the top 64 golfers’ in the world as they race for the FedEx Cup. Past champions of this event include Kevin Kisner, Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Dustin Johnson, Bubba Watson, and Billy Horschel, who will look to defend his 2021 victory.
“I couldn’t be more excited and proud that my second home, Austin, Texas, is going to host the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play at the great Austin Country Club,” said former Masters champion Spieth. “I know that my peers — the Americans and the international players — are going to love the Austin feel, the crowds and Austin Country Club itself.”
The most visible stretch of play from the lake takes place on holes 13, 14, and 15 of the ‘Lowlands (or back) Nine,’ stretching from the Pennybacker bridge to beyond Bull Creek. Playing West to East, hole 13, or Cape Dye, is a short par 4 designed to tempt golfers for the green jetting out into Lake Austin. Continuing in the same direction, hole 14, Loch McDonald, is a longer par 4 bordering the lake in its entirety. Hole 15, Puzzle Landing, is said to look like a question mark if viewed from above. The hole itself presents a challenging decision for golfers as trouble can lurk regardless of the tee shot landing.
We’re PUMPED for the 2022 WGC event and look forward to enjoying it in the coming years! Will we see you on the lake? Reserve your boat now!
