Last years champion Jason Day will look to defend his 2016 title in Austin, TX.
The tournament itself will host the world's top 64 golfers as they battle for a share of the $9.5 million dollar purse and 550 FedExCup Points. Locals will be cheering on University of Texas standout Jordan Spieth who currently holds the world's number 1 ranking and hopefully come March will still hold the top position.
“I couldn’t be more excited and proud that my second home, Austin, Texas, is going to host the World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play at the great Austin Country Club,” said recent Masters champion Jordan Spieth. “I know that my peers -- the Americans and the international players -- are going to love the Austin feel, the crowds and Austin Country Club itself.”
Holes that will serve as the tournament’s back-nine border on Lake Austin with spectacular views from what is known as the “lowlands nine” - these are the one's which will be primo views from one of Float On - Lake Austin Boat Rentals boats! The rest of the course is higher and more typical of the Texas Hill Country. The course embodies the principle of playing to restricted targets. Indiscriminate play simply to the close-mown area of the fairway will only by accident provide the comfortable approach.
We're very much looking forward to this PGA World Golf Championship event and are even more excited to know it'll stay in Austin for the next 4 years!
